Jason A. White
Jason A. White is a writer/director/producer living in Los Angeles.
He recently acted as Associate Producer on the feature film “They Were Asking for It,” the sophomore feature from Truman Kewley (“Beautiful Friend”).
He also produced the short film “Babyteeth” by writer/director Paul X. Sanchez IV which premieres at the Micheaux Film Festival in Los Angeles October 23, 2024.
"Help Is... on the Way?" White’s sophomore directing effort is currently out at festivals playing the Los Angeles International Film Festival (Nov. 14-17), among others… Previously, he wrote and directed “The Hit,” a short film which garnered 11 awards including Best Director awards from Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema (2021), the Show Low Film Festival (2021), and Best Comedy Short Film Director from the Jane Austen International Film Festival (2021).
Jason worked on “Breaking Bear” an upcoming animated series created by Julien Nitzberg for TUBI.
Apart from developing numerous screenplays, TV and Web series, he co-wrote the 2012 indie feature film Silver Case (which featured Eric Roberts and Seymour Cassel), staffed on various sitcoms and a dramatic series including Emily’s Reasons Why Not, Twins, Committed, Kyle XY, Madigan Men (with Gabriel Byrne), The Downer Channel (with Wanda Sykes and produced by Steve Martin). He has also worked on a number of pilots including Late Boomers (with Scott Bakula), The Lunchbox Chronicles (with Monica Potter and Andy Richter) and The Untitled Janeane Garofalo Pilot.
He has written web-content for ABC Family, punch-up comedy and wraparounds for the Discovery Channel’s The Christopher Lowell Show, advertising/copywriting campaigns for various film studios and television networks, including Sony Pictures, Universal Studios, and ABC Television. Along the way, he co-wrote the short The Conversation, shot an underground, no-budget music video for The Beards and did background work for the Coen Brothers on Hail, Caesar!.
In a previous life, he was a features writer for the Austin American-Statesman and the film program director for the Austin Film Festival; a programmer for the Jackson Hole Film Festival; and a screener for the Sonoma International Film Festival. He was the New York City columnist for Rochester’s Scene Magazine and a contributor to Zed and Flatiron News. Further still, he worked under the tutelage of Sheila Nevins at HBO Documentary Programming.
He studied English and Film Studies at the University of Rochester and improv, which he also performed, at IO West in Los Angeles.
When he’s not writing or socially distancing himself, despite there being no current global pandemic, he swims, bowls, hikes, and futzes with his facial hair… because the unexamined life is not worth living.
